Senior Commissioning Officer (Children's)

Salary: Grade 8 (£52,413 - £56,730)

Hours: 37

Contract type: full time permanent

Work Style: Flexible: working from home with 2 days in a council location

We are seeking a motivated and forward thinking Senior Commissioning Officer to join our Children's Services Commissioning Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping, developing, and securing high quality services that improve outcomes for children, young people, and families.

As we continue to strengthen our approach to market oversight, sufficiency, and value for money commissioning, we require a professional with an expertise in driving innovation, and able to ensure that children receive the right support at the right time.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for ensuring evidence based, high quality and cost effective commissioning of services.
  • Provide operational management to the commissioning team as directed by the Service Manager for Commissioning.
  • Support the development and lead the implementation of the Council's market position statement and sufficiency strategy.
  • Ensure effective oversight of the market through the use of contract information and collaboration with market providers, ensuring sufficiency of provision.
  • Work with internal and external partners to develop deliverable specifications for the delivery of high quality services and ensure effective mobilisation of new services.
  • Ensure effective communication through the delivery of high quality reports, informal briefings, and presentations.
  • Support the development of strategies for the delivery of services to improve outcomes for residents, working with a range of partners to investigate and develop innovative delivery models.
  • Take lead responsibility for promoting co production and service user engagement.

The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly in response to the needs of the service.
