Do you enjoy analysing complex problems, developing solutions, and implementing them effectively? Are you ready to support the Commissioning Manager in making critical technical decisions?
Join us as a Senior Commissioning Engineer - Technical Lead in the Operational I&C Commissioning team! This role is primarily HPC site-based but allows for occasional work from other project locations in Bridgwater and Bristol, as well as remote work when necessary.
The Opportunity
Hinkley Point 'C' (HPC) is a vital part of the UK's future energy strategy. As the first of the UK's next generation of nuclear power stations, HPC is both high profile and complex. We are seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer - Technical Lead to support the Operational I&C Commissioning Manager in overseeing the commissioning of all Operational I&C systems (SPPA-T2000 systems) for HPC. You will be involved from reviewing the design, FAT, executing commissioning tests, until handover to Operations. You will ensure compliance with system requirements and industry best practices.

- Coordinating with Nuclear Skills Alliance to develop I&C training modules, ensuring team member qualifications are maintained.
- Assisting the Commissioning Manager (CM) in resolving technical issues related to commissioning preparation, execution, and reporting.
- Supporting the CM in managing, planning, and tracking commissioning deliverables.
- Assisting the CM in overseeing systems handover and developing test strategies for Operational I&C systems (SPPA-T2000 systems).
- Helping team members grow and develop by providing technical guidance and support for decision-making.
- Developing action plans to address commissioning open points.
- Supporting knowledge management and lessons learned initiatives.
- Engaging with and presenting to internal and external stakeholders while acting as a deputy to the Commissioning Manager when required.
Who you are
We're looking for you to bring both technical expertise and a collaborative mindset to help drive success within a fast-paced and safety-critical environment. This role requires you to thrive in a dynamic setting, communicate confidently, and focus on delivering high-quality results - always prioritizing safety. Additional requirements include:
- Puts safety first in every task and decision, setting the standard for others.

- Focuses on delivery, guiding and supporting the team with influence and clarity.
- Full understanding of team workflows - knowing current status, next steps, and pathways forward.
- Maintains a positive, calm, and focused attitude when challenges arise, fostering a resilient team culture.
- Makes sound technical decisions independently but knows when to collaborate or seek input.
- Builds strong relationships across the team and wider project, using clear communication to align efforts and progress.
