We are seeking a Commercial Lead to provide a professional, responsive, and customer-focused commercial service within a large organisation. This role is crucial in developing and embedding best practices in commercial policy, including procurement, and leading on commercial training, governance, and data management. This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive commercial excellence and support the delivery of best value, cost-effectiveness, and continuous improvement across all commercial activities.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of commercial policies, procedures, processes, documentation, and strategies to ensure compliance, innovation, transparency, and value for money.
  • Design and deliver targeted training and guidance programs for staff and stakeholders.
  • Drive commercial excellence by collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development and use of commercial data and analytics within the Commercial Team to inform decision-making and monitor performance.
  • Provide line management for the Commercial Data Officer and other resources as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework relevant to public sector procurement.
  • Proven experience in coaching, developing, and leading others.
  • Experience working in a commercial function delivering complex procurements and/or developing complex commercial strategies/policies/documentation.
  • Innovative and forward-thinking with a 'can-do' attitude towards change and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent professional written and oral communication skills.
