Job overview

This role is three days based in the Urgent Care and Treatment Team (UCAT) North, a multidisciplinary team working with working age adults experiencing mental health crisis. The team is based at St Mary's Hospital, Kettering.

The postholder will work in the MDT to provide assessments, short term interventions, training and support. A proven interest in working with people experiencing complex mental health problems would be an advantage and experience of working with complex presentations would be essential.

Reporting to the Principal Clinical Psychologist who is clinically based in the south of the county, you will receive regular supervision and opportunities for further development.

Main duties of the job
  • Psychological assessment of individuals
  • Short term psychological interventions with individuals in crisis
  • Supervision of Trainee Clinical Psychologists where appropriate/required (the trust offers regular placements to trainees from the Oxford and Leicester Doctoral courses in Clinical Psychology)
  • Training, case formulation and support to staff in the UCAT team
  • Supporting the delivery of psychologically-informed research projects and service development.

Person specification Knowledge and Experience
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology OR CBT qualification. Registration with the HCPC or BABCP as appropriate.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups and with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
  • A demonstrated interest in working with people and their families.
  • Post training qualifications in therapy models.
  • Experience of working in acute/crisis settings.
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' care and treatment.
  • Experience of risk management and safety planning.
