The leadership team at Belford Hospital in Fort William are seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and motivated individual to lead our team in Ward One. We are looking for someone with a flexible approach, a considerate manner, and proven experience in team working and staff management, along with evidence of strong communication skills.

Experience in caring for older adults and knowledge of rehabilitation are desirable. The ability to balance competing demands while maintaining consistently high standards of patient care is essential.

Fort William, nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis-the UK's highest mountain-and known as the outdoor capital of the UK, offers an exceptional quality of life for those who enjoy fresh air and outdoor pursuits. The surrounding area includes remote wilderness, small islands, and the larger, well known isles of the West Coast. The town has excellent schools and is within easy day trip distance of the cosmopolitan cities Glasgow and Inverness.

Belford Hospital is a key healthcare provider in the West Highlands, offering a range of acute and emergency services.

  • A 24 hour Emergency Department, receiving trauma cases linked to mountain and outdoor activities
  • A 17 bed Combined Assessment Unit (CAU)
  • A 2 bed High Dependency Unit (HDU)
  • A 12 bed Rehabilitation Ward

Our teams work closely together to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to our local community and the many visitors to the area.

This is a fixed term full time 36 hour post for 12 months, predominantly working a 9-5 shift pattern but flexibility is expected to meet the needs of the service.

  • Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part time hours will be adjusted on a pro ratio basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
