The Department:
Capital Markets
Mayer Brown's Capital Markets practice consists of lawyers who represent both issuers, as well as placement agents, underwriters and dealers in a wide variety of equity, equity-linked and debt offerings, in addition to an experienced structured finance practice working at the forefront of the market for securitized products.
With lawyers located in the principal financial centers in the Americas, Asia, and Europe, we regularly represent issuers and financial intermediaries in connection with fixed-income securities, including investment grade debt, commercial paper, emerging market transactions, liability management transactions, covered bonds, leveraged capital, high yield debt, continuously offered products, structured products and hybrid capital.
Responsibilities- Being part of the team that runs large often complex cross border debt capital markets transactions.
- Drafting documents and all the ancillary documents.
- Liaising with clients and law firms representing the opposite side on the transaction.
- Preparing legal advice and memos.
- Negotiating security documentation.
- Active involvement in business development and the continued growth of an expanding team
A qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) from 7+ years post qualification experience.

Experience, skills and personal attributes:
- Be self-motivated and possess a very pro-active attitude;
- Experience in Debt Capital Markets Finance is required.
- Specific experience acting for banks, financial institutions, investors and corporate clients in Debt Capital Market transactions.
- Particular experience in cross-border leveraged finance, high-yield bonds and U.S. securities is desirable.
- Excellent people skills and a good, clear communication style;
- Ability to work effectively within an established, close-knit team;
- Demonstrate ability to confidently interact with clients and develop business pro-actively;
- A commercial and pragmatic outlook;
- Have attained degree certificate(s) from a reputed institution, achieving a minimum grade of 2:1 or equivalent.
