Job Description
SEND Tutors Required (Alternative Provision - Hayes, Hillingdon)

We are looking for qualified teachers and experienced tutors to provide 1-to-1 and small group tuition to pupils in and around Hayes and the wider Hillingdon area.

This provision supports young people who are not currently in mainstream education or who require additional support due to SEND and/or SEMH needs. Sessions may be delivered face-to-face, online, or through a hybrid model, depending on each placement.

There are multiple opportunities available, with consistent referrals from schools and local authorities across the borough.

You must have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available.

This role offers a flexible and rewarding alternative to traditional classroom teaching, allowing you to work more closely with individual learners.

Role Overview
  • Deliver tuition across core subjects (English, Maths, Science) based on your experience
  • Support pupils from KS1 to KS5
  • Work with learners with SEND, SEMH, and additional needs
  • Sessions may take place in homes, schools, community settings, or online
  • Flexible working patterns, with opportunities ranging from part-time to near full-time
  • Many referrals offer up to 5 days per week (approx. 3 hours per day), often running until the end of the academic year
Student Needs

Learners may present with:

  • SEMH, anxiety, or school avoidance
  • Autism (ASC), ADHD
  • MLD, SLD, or PMLD

A patient, adaptable and trauma-informed approach is key to success in this role.

Requirements
  • QTS / QTLS or strong relevant tutoring experience
  • Experience working with SEND or alternative provision learners
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two professional references
  • Strong safeguarding awareness
  • Ability to travel within Hayes / Hillingdon
