Protocol Education is currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in an outstanding special needs school in Merton to start from September 2026.
The school supports pupils across Early Years, Primary and Secondary education and provides ongoing training throughout the placement. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children and young people of different ages and are passionate about making a positive impact on their learning and development.
The school is looking for candidates who are comfortable supporting pupils with special educational needs and who can demonstrate commitment, patience, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn.
No previous school or special needs experience is required.
The roleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will work within small classes of approximately 6-8 pupils, supporting students with a range of needs, including:
- Autism
- Speech, language and communication difficulties
- Learning difficulties
You will follow a structured and individualised curriculum designed to meet each pupil's specific learning and developmental needs.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Developing pupils' speech, language and communication skills
- Teaching vocabulary and comprehension using visual resources
- Supporting pupils with tailored numeracy and literacy activities
- Providing one-to-one learning support
- Encouraging communication, confidence and social awareness
- Assisting with creative and sensory lessons, including art, music, cooking and sensory play
- Monday to Friday
- Long-term role for the academic year
- Some flexibility may be available
- Small class sizes of 6-8 pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
