SEND Teaching Assistant - Autism Gateshead

Protocol Education is recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEND school in Gateshead, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and a range of additional learning needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within education while gaining valuable experience working alongside an experienced and supportive school team.

Your Responsibilities

You will support pupils throughout the school day, helping them access learning and develop important life and social skills.

Your day may involve:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis
  • Working with small groups
  • Helping pupils access classroom learning
  • Supporting communication and interaction
  • Encouraging independence
  • Supporting emotional regulation
  • Promoting positive behaviour
  • Using individualised strategies and resources
  • Following EHCP and learning plan targets
  • Working alongside teaching and specialist staff

The school is looking for someone who is:

Experience with Autism, SEND, SEMH, learning difficulties or challenging behaviour would be advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
