SEND Learning Support Assistant

  • Annual Salary: 15.55p/h-17.50p/h
  • Location: Lambeth Campus, South East London
  • Job Type: Term Time only (35 hours per week, 36 weeks)
  • Contract End Date: 03/07/2026
  • DBS: Child & Adult DBS required

Join our committed team as a SEND Learning Support Assistant, where you will provide essential learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) at our Lambeth Campus. This role is crucial in facilitating access to educational programs and college services, enhancing personal development, and ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction of support managers and curriculum team leaders.
  • Support the development of self-advocacy and independent learning skills of learners.
  • Contribute to the assessment of students' learning and personal progression, working with relevant staff to develop person-centred support plans.
  • Provide support and assistance to learners for their personal care, medication, safety, and well-being.
  • Anticipate barriers to learning and participation, developing intervention strategies to minimise difficulties.
  • Ensure learners are able to access and fully utilise college support services and participate productively in college life.
  • Manage and ensure the availability and operational status of specialist equipment, assistive technologies, and facilities.
  • Address any mobility issues within the building and other safety concerns in line with college health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in the review of learners' progress in line with college policies and ensure individual support plans are updated.
  • Liaise with external agencies such as parents and key workers as necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience or qualification in supporting individuals with SEN.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and learning objectives of students on study programmes.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing needs within the educational environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and training.
