SEND Teacher - Primary Specialist Provision (SLCN)

Are you a passionate and resilient SEND teacher who believes every child deserves the opportunity to thrive?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional SEND Teacher to lead a small specialist primary provision within an inclusive mainstream school in Burnley.
This provision supports a maximum of nine pupils, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). You will be supported by two experienced Teaching Assistants and will play a key role in creating a nurturing, engaging and highly personalised learning environment where every child can flourish.
The successful candidate will utilise an established sensory curriculum, adapting and planning learning experiences to meet individual needs, communication targets and EHCP outcomes.
The Role
As the class teacher you will:
- Lead teaching and learning within a small specialist classroom.
- Plan and deliver a sensory-based curriculum tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Create a communication-rich environment that promotes confidence, independence and engagement.
- Monitor and assess progress against EHCP outcomes.
- Work closely with families, therapists and external professionals.
- Lead and manage a team of two Teaching Assistants, providing clear direction and high expectations.
- Foster a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where children develop socially, emotionally and academically.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Has experience working with pupils with SEND, preferably SLCN.
- Is a strong and confident practitioner who can effectively lead an established team.
- Is a clear and confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Can quickly build secure, trusting relationships with children and families.
- Demonstrates patience, resilience and emotional intelligence.
- Has high expectations for all pupils and a commitment to inclusive education.
- Can remain calm, flexible and solution-focused when responding to complex needs.
- Has experience of, or an interest in, sensory and communication-focused approaches to learning.
