SEND Teaching Assistant in Bricket Wood

Location: AL2

Start date: September 2026

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM until 3:30 PM

Do you have a passion for supporting young people with SEND, including learning disabilities and autism, to develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills?

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, compassionate, and motivated to make a meaningful difference. You will work closely with lecturers and support staff to provide consistent, person centred support and help create a calm, positive, and empowering learning environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Support teaching staff in delivering personalised learning programmes
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to promote engagement, communication, and independence
  • Assist learners with emotional regulation, sensory needs and daily routines
  • Implement strategies that encourage positive behaviour and develop life skills
  • Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support teams to ensure consistent support
Essential skills & attributes
  • Experience supporting young people or adults with SEND (ASD, learning disabilities and/or complex needs desirable)
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to follow individual support plans and positive behaviour strategies
  • Resilience, flexibility and a proactive attitude
