SEND Commissioning Officer

6 Month Contract (with view to extend) - Starting September

£380-425 per day - Inside IR35 (via umbrella)

South London - Hybrid Working - 2 Days in the Office

Are you an experienced SEND Commissioning Officer looking for an opportunity to play a key role in shaping services for children and young people with SEND? This is a fantastic chance for a proactive and autonomous SEND Commissioning Officer to join a high-profile transformation programme, working within a dynamic commissioning team and reporting into the SEND Strategic Commissioner.

As a SEND Commissioning Officer, you will be instrumental in driving commissioning activity across key SEND Reform priorities, helping to improve outcomes for children, families and education providers. This role offers the opportunity to influence service redesign, market development and innovative approaches to Alternative Provision and SEND support.

Your Role as SEND Commissioning Officer:
  • Lead commissioning activity across SEND Reform priorities
  • Support SEND transformation programmes, service redesign and market development initiatives
  • Work closely with children, families, schools, providers and partners to co-produce effective services
  • Provide commissioning insight, performance analysis and business cases to support strategic decision-making
  • Support the development of innovative models that improve outcomes, quality and value for money
Your Previous Experience as SEND Commissioning Officer:
  • Strong understanding of SEND services and how EHCP provision operates within local authority settings
  • Proven commissioning experience across children's services, SEND or education-related programmes
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage complex commissioning projects with minimal supervision
  • Experience engaging and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, including schools, providers and families
  • Strong analytical, reporting and business case development skills
