Are you a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact?

We're recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Alternative Provision in Peterborough, working with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASC), ADHD, and other additional learning needs.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll provide tailored support to pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you'll help create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment where students feel safe, valued and able to succeed.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN

  • Support students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs

  • Encourage positive behaviour using consistent strategies

  • Assist with emotional regulation and wellbeing

  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs

  • Promote confidence, independence and engagement

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals

We're Looking For

  • Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)

  • Graduates interested in SEN education

Essential Requirements

Experience supporting children or young people with SEN

Calm, patient and resilient approach

Strong behaviour management and communication skills

Passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare

Desirable Experience

  • Alternative Provision or PRU experience

  • Autism (ASC), ADHD or SEMH support

  • Team Teach or de-escalation training

  • SEND qualifications

  • Personal care experience (where applicable)
