SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School in Bury

Milk Education is currently recruiting a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Bury. This opportunity is available for an immediate start or from September and is ideal for someone looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, a graduate considering a career in education, psychology or therapy, or someone with transferable experience supporting children or young people, we'd love to hear from you.

In this rewarding role, you'll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support that helps pupils with SEND thrive both academically and socially.

Your Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
• Support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs and promote engagement
• Assist the class teacher in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Implement strategies outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
• Prepare classroom resources and support day-to-day classroom routines
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive relationships throughout the school day

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has experience working with children or young people in a school, care, youth work or support setting (SEND experience is desirable)
• Is patient, compassionate and committed to helping every child succeed
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
• Is flexible, proactive and eager to learn
• Has an understanding of safeguarding, or is willing to complete relevant training
• Holds a degree in Psychology, Education or a related subject (desirable but not essential)
