About the Role

We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in Worthing. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning targets.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and resilience in learners.
  • Support classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies where required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential).
  • The ability to adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs.
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • A willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development.
