Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for a variety of opportunities across secondary schools in St Helens. With schools preparing for the new academic year, we are keen to hear from experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, SEN TAs and Behaviour Mentors, as well as graduates and candidates with transferable experience supporting young people.

Our partner schools may require support for students with a range of additional needs, including: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Other SEND needs.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers and school support teams to help students access learning and develop greater independence.

Responsibilities
  • Providing one-to-one support
  • Supporting students within the classroom
  • Working with small groups
  • Supporting intervention programmes
  • Helping students overcome barriers to learning
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement
  • Developing positive relationships with students
  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
We are looking for:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • Experience supporting SEND is advantageous
  • Patience, resilience and empathy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A positive and proactive approach
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people
