SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT - 1TO1

We are a specialist education recruitment agency partnering with a welcoming and inclusive Primary School with a SEND/Resource Base in Sutton. The school is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team and support pupils across the school.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about education who wants to make a real difference within the local community.

This welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Southend-on-Sea is committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where every student is encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and achieve their full potential. The school places a strong emphasis on academic progress, personal development, and fostering a lifelong love of learning throughout each student's educational journey.

With effective support systems in place for students with SEND and additional needs, the school promotes positive behaviour, strong pastoral care, and meaningful partnerships with families. Staff are highly supportive and collaborative, and Teaching Assistants are valued members of the team, playing a vital role in helping students succeed both academically and personally as they prepare for the next stages of their education.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to help deliver high-quality learning experiences. You will play a key role in supporting pupils' academic progress, well-being, and personal development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils in class, small groups, and on a one-to-one basis
  • Assisting with the delivery of lessons and targeted interventions
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEND and SEMH where appropriate
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Preparing resources and supporting classroom organisation
  • Supervising pupils during lessons, break times, and school activities
  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who:

  • Is caring, patient, and enthusiastic about working with children
  • Has experience working with children or young people (school experience desirable but not essential)
  • Is committed to inclusion and supporting pupils from diverse backgrounds
  • Works well as part of a team and takes initiative
  • Communicates clearly and professionally

Relevant transferable skills, if you are a University graduate we would love to hear from you!

What the School Offers
  • A supportive and well-led school environment in Tower Hamlets
  • A collaborative staff team with a strong focus on inclusion and pupil wellbeing
  • Access to ongoing training and professional development
