SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support (Year 6) - Strood
Fixed-Term Contract Full-Time Start Date: April
A supportive primary school in Strood is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil on a fixed-term contract.
About the Role
You will work closely with a Year 6 pupil, providing tailored academic and emotional support to help them access the curriculum confidently. Working alongside the class teacher and SENCo, you will help implement structured strategies to promote engagement, independence and progress.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing consistent 1:1 support within the classroom
- Assisting with differentiated learning activities
- Supporting preparation for end of Key Stage 2 assessments
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs
- Holds GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or recognised equivalents
- Demonstrates strong behaviour management skills
- Is calm, patient and able to build positive relationships
- Works effectively as part of a wider support team
Experience supporting upper Key Stage 2 pupils or working with children preparing for SATs would be advantageous.
