Job Description

SEN Teacher (Maternity Cover)

  • Contract Type: 12-month fixed term (potential to become permanent)
  • Location: Boston - PE20
  • Salary: Main Teacher Pay Scale

We are seeking a Generalist Teacher to cover a maternity leave, with the potential for the role to become permanent. The ideal candidate will have SEN (Special Educational Needs) teaching experience and hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). While a background in Maths and Science is preferred, we are open to candidates from various subject areas.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons across a range of subjects, adapting to the needs of SEN students.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess lessons in line with curriculum objectives.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with other teaching staff and SEN specialists to enhance educational practices and student learning experiences.
  • Participate in school meetings and events.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience in teaching SEN students is essential.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths and Science is ideal, but candidates with expertise in other subjects are also encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and adapt teaching materials to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.

Interview Process:

  • Face-to-face interview, including a 20-30 minute lesson delivery.
  • The first part of the interview will involve a review of the lesson taught, discussing what was successful and areas for improvement if any.
  • Competency-based interview focusing on teaching skills and experience.
