Job Description

SEN TeacherBirmingham (accessibly via public transport for non-drivers)Paid to scale - MPS/UPSStart Date: September 2026Contract: Permanent

Long Term Futures is seeking a resilient and experience SEN Teacher to work at a vibrant, fast paced SEN School in Birmingham. Within this school, there are a range of children from 5-19 years old with additional needs including, but not limited to, ASD, ADHD, Downs Syndrome and PMLD.

The school require an energetic, empathetic professional that has a minimum of 2 years' experience teaching within SEN/SEMH. The students require consistent structure, strong boundaries and a calm, experienced adult who can respond confidently to behavioural incidents while maintaining a supportive and regulated learning environment.

About the Role Working closely with other class teachers, SENCo and SLT, your responsibilities will include: Providing excellent, engaging lessons to students of mixed ages and abilities Supporting the pupils to regulate emotions and remain engaged in learning Using structured routines, clear expectations and positive reinforcement Implementing behaviour plans and strategies agreed by the SENCo Using positive handling / restraint techniques when required in line with school policy Utilising and giving clear direction to Teaching Assistants/Learning Support Assistants Helping the pupils develop resilience, self-regulation and positive social interaction Monitoring behaviour and feeding back to parents to ensure consistent support

Ideal Candidate Profile Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential with a minimum 2 years teaching experience in the UK Positive handling / restraint training (e.g. Team Teach or similar) is desired but not essential Calm, confident and able to remain regulated during behavioural incidents Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills Able to build trust while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries Confidence teaching across a range of subjects
