Hays Education are working with a number of inclusive and supportive primary schools in the Sparkbrook (B11) area who are looking to appoint caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants for the new academic year starting in September 2026.If you're passionate about making a difference and helping children overcome barriers to learning, we'd love to hear from you.
Your new roleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant or 1:1 Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.
Responsibilities may include:- Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
- Supporting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs
- Implementing strategies to support behaviour and engagement
- Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
- Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
- Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Roles are available on both a full-time and part-time basis, with long-term opportunities throughout the academic year.
What you'll need to succeed- Have experience supporting children with SEN, either in schools or other child-focused settings
- Are patient, empathetic and resilient
- Have experience working on a 1:1 basis or with small intervention groups
- Are confident building positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Hold a relevant qualification (desirable but not essential)
Experience in personal care, behaviour support, Makaton, PECS, Team Teach or similar interventions would be advantageous.
