SEN Science Lead

Specialist education setting across multiple sites (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire regions)

Permanent, Part-Time (Term Time Only - 40 hours per week)

M1 to M6 depending on skills and experience (£32,916 to £45,352 per annum)

We are seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking SEN Science Lead to drive excellence in science education and support high-quality teaching across a specialist provision. This hybrid role combines classroom teaching with leadership responsibility. You will shape and deliver a broad, engaging science curriculum while supporting colleagues through coaching, quality assurance and professional development. The aim is to ensure all learners receive a personalised, inclusive and impactful learning experience.

The provision supports learners aged 7-19 through personalised and flexible education pathways. It is designed for young people who may be disengaged from education or require alternative approaches to succeed. Learning takes place through one-to-one sessions, small group teaching and vocational environments.

• Lead the development and delivery of a high-quality, inclusive science curriculum
• Teach science across a range of settings, including small groups and one-to-one sessions
• Provide coaching, mentoring and CPD to colleagues to improve teaching practice
• Work with senior leaders to carry out quality assurance activities and drive improvement
• Monitor learner progress and support targeted interventions
• Collaborate with colleagues to personalise learning pathways and support outcomes
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health & safety and compliance
• Ensure accurate record-keeping, including learner data and progress tracking
• Contribute to whole-organisation curriculum development and strategic planning

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching Science
• Strong understanding of curriculum design and development
• Ability to lead, coach and support colleagues effectively
• Commitment to inclusive, learner-centred practice
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
• Willingness to travel between sites

• Experience working within SEN or alternative provision settings
• Experience in a leadership or subject lead role
• Knowledge of quality assurance and improvement processes in education
