Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Dover and surrounding areas (Deal, Sandwich, Walmer & East Kent)

Salary: £93.00 - £100.00 per day (Weekly Pay, Pension & Free CPD)

Start Date: Ongoing

Tradewind Recruitment is working closely with specialist SEMH schools and alternative provisions across Dover and the surrounding areas. We are looking for caring, resilient and committed Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs on both a full-time and part-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes in education.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help pupils who may experience emotional, behavioural or mental health challenges. You will support students with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Attachment and Trauma-related needs
  • Anxiety and Emotional Regulation difficulties
  • Challenging Behaviour
What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Promoting positive behaviour using consistent strategies.
  • Helping students regulate their emotions and build resilience.
  • Supporting learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Encouraging confidence, independence and social development.
  • Building trusting relationships with pupils, teachers and families.
  • Working as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team to support individual learning plans.

Requirements
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • A new DBS costs £62, which we'll reimburse after you've completed 20 days of work with us.
