Further Education College Location: Manchester
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (Agency Placement)
Pay Rate: £13.00 - £15.00 per hour (dependent on experience)

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established further education college in Greater Manchester for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and adults with a range of additional learning needs to achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to students across a variety of courses.

Responsibilities
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support in and out of the classroom
  • Assisting with lesson delivery and adapting materials where required
  • Promoting student engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Supporting with behaviour management in a positive and proactive manner
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience supporting young people or adults with additional needs (education or care setting)
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
Qualifications

Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning are desirable but not essential.
