Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support) - Ribble Valley
Start Date: September 2026Location: Ribble Valley, LancashireHours: Monday to Friday, 09:00am - 3:00pmPay Rate: £16.35 per hour
Teaching Assistant Required - KS2 SEMH Support
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a welcoming primary school in the Ribble Valley.
This rewarding role will involve working closely with the pupil on a 1:1 basis, helping them to engage positively in school life while supporting their academic progress, particularly in Maths and Literacy.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with SEMH needs
- Delivering targeted Maths and Literacy interventions
- Building positive and trusting relationships with the pupil
- Supporting the child's emotional regulation and wellbeing throughout the school day
- Encouraging engagement, confidence and independence
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs and other professionals
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback where required
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children with SEMH, SEND, behavioural or additional needs
- Previous experience within a primary school setting is desirable
- Strong Maths and Literacy skills
- Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
- Ability to build positive relationships and manage challenging situations calmly
- A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential
