SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: SurreyHours: Full-time / Term-timeStart Date: ASAP / FlexibleContract: Long-term / Permanent opportunities available
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive school setting in Surrey, working with pupils who present Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Role
As an SEMH LSA, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning
- Implement positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support EHCP targets
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting SEMH, ASD, or challenging behaviour (school, PRU, AP, youth work, or care background welcomed)
- Is calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
- Has strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Is passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives
- Holds (or is willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
