We are seeking a dedicated and resilient English Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Horsham, supporting secondary-aged students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This role involves supporting students within English lessons, helping to promote engagement, literacy development, and positive learning behaviours within a structured and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

Support students within English lessons, fostering engagement and literacy development while encouraging positive learning behaviours. Build and maintain trusting relationships with students, using empathy, communication, teamwork and organisational skills to manage challenging behaviour.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
• Confidence supporting secondary English learning
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
• A calm, proactive, and empathetic approach
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Application Requirements

• Provide suitable references for pre employment checks
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children's Workforce (or Children's & Adults') update service, or be willing to obtain one
• Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa

Pay includes 12.07% holiday pay.
