Then consider joining Reed Wellbeing as a Self-Employed Health & Wellbeing Coach! Please Note, these roles are expressions of interest only at this point. We are currently working on a number of exciting opportunities within this area and are looking to build a pipeline of talent to allow us to work quickly upon contract award. We will be in a position to be able to begin the formal recruitment process in the coming weeks and we will be in touch to discuss the next steps of your expression of interest as soon as possible. This role will deliver across one or more programmes that make up the NHS Healthier You service. These programmes include the Diabetes Prevention Programme (DPP), Type 2 Diabetes Pathway to Remission Programme (T2DR), Behavioural Support for Obesity Prescribing Programme (BSOP) and Long-Term Conditions Prevention Pilot (LTCP). As a Self-Employed Health & Wellbeing Coach, you will be responsible for the engagement and delivery of sessions in both group and/or one-to-one settings with participants. Sessions are delivered face-to-face across Cornwall & The Isles of Scilly, therefore flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential. Applicants must also have access to their own vehicle and hold a full UK driving licence. Expected availability for programme delivery is between 12 and 20 hours per week. In return, you will receive £50 per 90 Minute session.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging NHS Healthier You Programme sessions to participants in a group and/or one-to-one setting, in accordance with our curriculum, resources and quality standards.
  • Motivate, support, and empower participants to make sustainable lifestyle and behaviour changes, using evidence-based coaching techniques to improve their overall health and wellbeing.
  • Adapt session delivery to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and learning styles of participants, and create a positive and inclusive environment to encourage participation.
  • Monitor participant progress, conduct regular revies, and celebrate achievements while identifying additional support needs.
  • Signpost participants to appropriate local health, wellbeing and lifestyle support services where required.
  • Participate in training, professional development, and quality improvement activities to ensure the highest standards of service delivery.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to support continuous improvement of programme delivery and participant outcomes.
To be successful in this role Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Exercise Referral, Health Improvement/Promotion/Public Health, Nutrition & Weight Management, Coaching & Behaviour Change, or Education & Training.
  • Evidence of training, qualification, or assessed competence in behaviour change delivery, aligned with recognised frameworks (e.g. COM-B, Behaviour Change Wheel, motivational interviewing or health coaching approaches).
  • Fully First Aid trained, with a valid certificate.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience facilitating groups and supporting individuals to achieve positive health, lifestyle, or behaviour changes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a person-centred and non-judgemental approach.
  • Ability to engage and motivate people from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of confidence and health literacy.
  • Demonstrable IT skills, including the ability to confidently use digital platforms and systems to deliver services, record data, and meet reporting requirements.
  • Willingness to participate in induction, supervision, observed practice, competency assessment and ongoing CPD including all mandatory core training.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required, and the ability to travel throughout the designated region using your own vehicle.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience delivering behaviour change programmes aligned with NHS-commissioned or public health services.
  • Experience working with individuals and/or groups with additional needs, long-term health conditions, obesity, or pre-diabetes.
  • Fluency in multiple languages.
  • Experience supporting service users via digital or remote delivery platforms.
  • Qualification in group-based delivery.
  • Level 3 Qualification in British Sign Language.
