Contract: 12 Month

Rate: £142.32 per day

Location: Deeside, UK (Onsite)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist II to join the Physical Testing Department, supporting the development of innovative medical devices. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product safety, efficacy, and quality through robust physical testing activities.

As a Scientist II, you will design and execute physical test programmes, contribute to method development, and support multiple projects within a regulated ISO controlled laboratory environment. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your laboratory experience, analytical mindset, and technical skills in a fast paced, collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within an ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 laboratory quality system, following GxP procedures.
  • Design, plan and execute physical testing to support R&D and base business projects.
  • Develop and validate new physical test methods aligned with industry standards
  • Estimate resources and timelines for experiments, ensuring delivery against targets.
  • Author technical documentation including validation protocols, reports and laboratory records.
  • Independently analyse and interpret data, including statistical evaluation.
  • Present laboratory findings through clear internal presentations.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and data integrity in line with GMP, GLP and GDP.
  • Conduct laboratory investigations, perform root cause analysis, and apply CAPA as needed.
  • Support updates to laboratory methods, SOPs and processes.
  • Maintain compliance with cGMP regulations, SOPs and technical documentation.
  • Contribute to change control activities.
  • Support daily laboratory operations such as housekeeping, equipment checks, calibration, preparing solutions, stock management, sample shipping & documentation scanning.
Skills & Experience
  • 3 years' experience in a laboratory environment; medical devices/pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of physical testing principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of compliance requirements including ISO13485:2016, ISO9001:2000, FDA 21 CFR part 820 and GMP guidelines.
  • Familiarity with safe laboratory working practices; experience with statistical analysis and Minitab desirable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biological Sciences).
