- Contract: Term Time PLUS 2 Weeks
- Salary: Up to £25,126 pro rata (however this will be uplifted in April 2026, in line with national increases)
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Working Pattern: Full-time or part-time (Hours will be 8am until 4pm on chosen pattern)
- Start Date: April 2026
Actual Salary based on this being a term time plus two weeks role would be up to £21,817.77
Salary will be offered in line with experience and route chosen
Join Our Science Team!Herne Bay High School is seeking a motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our dynamic and supportive Science Department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about science and education to play a key role in supporting practical learning in a busy secondary school.

Key Responsibilities- Preparing, setting up, and clearing away apparatus and materials for science lessons
- Assisting teaching staff during practicals, if needed
- Maintaining & organising laboratory equipment, and reporting any issues
- Following Health & Safety guidelines, including CLEAPSS (training provided)
- Adhering to safeguarding procedures in line with school policies
You will report to the Senior Science Technician and Head of Faculty, and will work closely with a team of experienced professionals who are passionate about science and student learning.
What Does "Term Time + 2 Weeks" Mean?This role follows the school term calendar, meaning you work during the weeks students are in school, plus two additional weeks (typically used for set up, training, or end of year preparation).
The salary is pro rata, meaning it is adjusted to reflect the fact that the role does not cover the full calendar year (i.e. it's based on approx. 39-41 working weeks per year, not 52).
