School Receptionist and Administration Assistant
Ryecroft School, Walsall, West Midlands, WS2 7BH
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm
Salary: Up to £24,000 per annum (depending on experience; not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent - Term Time Only

About the RoleAt Ryecroft School, we're looking for a welcoming and proactive Receptionist & Administration Assistant to become the heart of our school community. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. From greeting visitors and supporting safeguarding processes to keeping the school office running smoothly, you'll play a vital part in helping our pupils thrive.
Ryecroft School is a specialist independent school supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and additional complex needs. Every member of our team contributes to creating a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment where young people can achieve their full potential.
What You'll Be Doing- Be the first point of contact for visitors, parents, professionals and external agencies, creating a warm and professional welcome.
- Manage the busy school reception, telephone enquiries, visitor sign in processes and safeguarding procedures.
- Support the day to day administration of the school, including correspondence, filing, data entry and document preparation.
- Maintain school systems, registers, calendars, email inboxes and pupil records accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with attendance monitoring, including contacting parents/carers regarding pupil absences.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing post, deliveries, stationery supplies and office resources.
- Support the Office Manager and wider school team with a variety of administrative projects and tasks.
- Help maintain a safe, organised and professional environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
- Has a friendly, approachable and professional manner with excellent customer service skills.
- Is a confident communicator, both verbally and in writing, and can handle sensitive conversations with professionalism.
- Has strong IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other office systems.
- Is highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and work accurately under pressure.
- Enjoys working as part of a team and building positive relationships across the school community.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Has previous experience working within an administrative or office based role (minimum three years preferred).
- Has empathy, patience and a genuine commitment to supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- Experience working within an educational setting.
- Full UK driving licence.
