School Chefs - Southampton

Berkeley Scott is looking for experienced School Chefs to cover temporary assignments in Southampton and surrounding areas for the new school term starting September. The role involves preparing and serving nutritious meals for pupils and staff while supporting the daily operation of school kitchens. The position offers weekly pay and holiday pay, with rates up to £23.00 per hour depending on experience.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing and serving nutritious meals for pupils and staff
• Supporting the day to day running of school kitchens
• Maintaining excellent food hygiene and health and safety standards
• Catering for allergens and special dietary requirements
• Assisting with stock control, food preparation and kitchen cleanliness

Essential Requirements

• Previous chef experience within schools, educational catering, care homes, contract catering or high volume kitchens
• A current Enhanced DBS Certificate
• Food Hygiene Level 3 Certificate
• Strong understanding of allergens and special dietary requirements
• Reliable, professional and able to work independently

• Temporary assignments covering staff holidays and annual leave, short and long term sickness absence, vacant positions while permanent recruitment takes place, maternity and paternity leave, and other planned leave

• Additional support during busy periods, events and school functions
• Assignments ranging from single day bookings to longer term placements lasting several weeks or months, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work across a variety of educational catering environments
