Scala Developer

Scala Developer - 3 months+ - £300-380pd Outside IR35 - REMOTE UK

We are looking for an experienced Scala Developer to join and support a long-term technology programme within the UK Government.

• Strong commercial experience developing applications using Scala.

• Strong understanding of functional programming principles and modern software engineering practices.

• Proven experience building high-quality, scalable Back End services and distributed systems.

• Experience with Akka, Play Framework, or similar Scala ecosystems.

• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed architectures.

• Experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases.

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, DevOps practices, and modern engineering methodologies.

• Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally AWS, with exposure to Azure or Google Cloud also beneficial.

• Ability to develop robust, maintainable, and scalable solutions in a commercial environment.

• Willingness and flexibility to provide occasional out-of-hours support when required.

This temporary contract is outside IR35 and will be delivered on a statement-of-work basis. The supplier will determine the method, resources, and approach to deliver the agreed outcomes.
