Currently, in partnership with several consortium partners, Balfour Beatty has been selected by BP (British Petroleum) to build a groundbreaking fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage technology. This project is a key step towards making Teesside the UK's first decarbonised industrial cluster.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Scaffolding Coordination Lead to support the Net Zero Teesside project at our new site in Redcar, Cleveland, Teesside.
What you'll be doingAs a Scaffolding Coordination Lead, your responsibilities will include:
- Demonstrating leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW), actively promoting compliance among BBK and contractor teams.
- Ensuring all HSW requirements are integrated into your area of responsibility, with hazards eliminated or mitigated in consultation with site management and HSW teams.
- Reviewing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) to align with HSW standards and safe work practices.
- Determining scope and preparing work packs detailing scaffolding locations, requirements, estimates, and quantities.
- Collaborating with planning engineers to schedule, estimate, monitor, and close out scaffold-related activities.
- Executing work in accordance with contract specifications, project timelines, and budgets.
- Acting as the principal contractor for all onsite scaffolding equipment coordination.
- Participating in coordination meetings to ensure scope clarity and minimal disruption to construction.
- Planning and organizing all scaffolding operations and ensuring erected scaffolds are suitable for their intended use.
- Managing periodic inspections of scaffolding equipment and accessories.
- Supporting scaffold design and pre-planning, including weight limits, types, fall protection, and supports.
- Carrying out final inspections and monitoring scaffold modifications, keeping detailed records.
- Managing timely off-hiring and dismantling of scaffolding.
- Maintaining project documentation in line with company procedures.
- Reporting deviations from project baselines and assessing potential impacts on critical activities.
- Collecting and sharing data for weekly and monthly reports.
- Overseeing subcontractor reporting, attendance, progress, and providing necessary instructions and support.
- Someone capable of delivering an integrated, cost-effective scaffolding service, completing work packages on schedule and within budget.
- A proactive individual who can drive scaffold activities and contractor accountability.
- Someone who can coordinate with construction engineers to prioritize and achieve scaffold objectives.
- Experienced in developing work packs and conducting constructability reviews.
- Skilled in quality inspections, cost review, and ensuring value for money.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and influence scaffold contractors to meet safety and quality standards.
- Effective communicator at all levels, including internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
