Our little practice is expanding so we are looking for a salaried GP for 2 sessions a week on a Monday afternoon and a Thursday morning.
Aylestone Health Centre is located 10 minutes from Fosse Park and has 4700 patients. The practice has a friendly, family feel and we strive to offer the best service to our patients.
The role involves working as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to thepractice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying withthe GMS contract.
Thepost holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice,contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example,maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the jobThe following are the core responsibilitiesof the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out othertasks:
- thepost-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties,including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, checkingand signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork andcorrespondence in a timely fashion.
- undertakeduty doctor role as required by the practice.
- Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation.
- Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Developingcare plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with currentpractice disease management protocols.
- Providingcounselling and health education
- Admittingor discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other careproviders as appropriate.
- Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards Collectingdata for audit purposes
- Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
- Prescribingin accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) wheneverthis is clinically appropriate.
We are a small, 4700 patient practice, based in the heart ofLeicester City who are passionate about excellent clinical care. We have 1 GPpartner, a long-term locum GP, 1 x salaried GP, a Practice Nurse, a HCA, a team of pharmacists and support from a social prescriber, care-coordinator and a fantastic admin team. Situated in a bright, modern, purpose-builtbuilding, with a supportive and enthusiastic ethos, we believe in offering thebest service we can to the patients we look after. Job responsibilities- Provide high-quality medical care to the practice population in line with primary care contracts.
- Manage long-term conditions, acute presentations, and preventative healthcare services.
- Prescribe medication in accordance with national and local guidelines.
- Undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles on a rotational basis.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
- Process referrals, prescription requests, and other administrative tasks in a timely manner.
- Adhere to best practices, clinical guidelines, and audit recommendations.
Practice & Team Contributions:
- Work collaboratively with the wider practice team, sharing workload fairly.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous professional development.
- Take responsibility for specific areas of practice performance, including QOF.
- Contribute to practice meetings, clinical governance, and training.
- Assist in achieving the strategic goals of the practice, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with appraisals, revalidation, and professional development requirements.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Participate in practice audits and local service initiatives.
- Contribute to the review and analysis of significant and near-miss events.
- Full GMC registration, inclusion on the NHS England Performers List, and eligibility to work in the UK.
- Able to work Monday afternoon and Thursday morning
- Experience in primary care, knowledge of QOF, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
