Job Description

We are a busy, forward-thinking practice looking for aSalaried GP to join our team for 6 to 8 sessions per week in the coastal townof Gorleston in Norfolk; we are close to beautiful beaches, and the NorfolkBroads also within easy reach of the city of Norwich.

We pride ourselves in offering a friendly and professional service in cateringfor approx. 25,000 patients operating over 3 sites. Two of the sites are inGorleston and one in Hopton.

We are part of the Gorleston Primary Care Network, we also have on-site FirstContact Physios, Mental Health Workers,Social Prescribers and Wellbeing Coaches and playan active part in our local primary care estates development.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder willmake themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including face to face consultations, telephone/video consultations and queries, visitingpatients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealingwith queries, paperwork and correspondence.

Ingeneral, you will be expected to undertake all the normalduties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primarycare.

All agreements will be in line with the BMA Model Salaried GP Contract. You will be given 15-minute consultations and be invited to Practice meetings.

The Practice is led by 2 Partners and a team of 3 Managers.

You will work alongside a dynamic team of 4 salaried GPs, ANPs, Paramedics, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Practice Nurses, HCAs, Phlebotomist and administrative support staff

We are a well-established training practice, involved with GP Registrars and Foundation Year 2 trainees and are also an accredited research practice.

Job responsibilities
  • To undertake a variety of duties, includingsurgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visitingpatients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealingwith queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems,whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers withinthe organisation
  • Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems
  • Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • Developingcare plans for health in consultation with patients and in line withcurrent practice disease management protocols
  • Providingcounselling and health education
  • Admittingor discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to othercare providers as appropriate
  • Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collectingdata for audit purposes
  • Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoidinghand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
  • Prescribingin accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically)whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • Ingeneral, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normalduties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primarycare.
Person Specification Experience
  • Experience of working in General Practice
Qualifications
  • GMC registration
  • Knowledge of General Practice IT systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High Level of IT Skills
  • Knowledge of SystmOne and Footfall would be an advantage but full training will be available
  • Time management, prioritisation and the ability to work to deadlines
