Queens AvenueSurgery, Dorchester, is a long established and respected practice with over 8700patients.
We are looking for a Salaried GP who takes pride in their work and would like to contribute to the health and wellbeingof our patients. This vacancy is for 4 to 6 sessions a week, working set days.
We are located in a beautiful Victorian building in theCounty Town of Dorchester, close to Dorset County Hospital and near to stunningcountryside and the breathtaking Jurassic Coast.
We offer a friendly and very supportiveatmosphere to work in despite the challenges of primary care. We pride ourselves on the fact that we havebeen able to address the work life balance with a full complement of doctorsand a wonderful team to support them.
We are a very social bunch, and the successful candidate will be invited to attend our annual skittles challenge (no skill required), our Summer Barbeque and Christmas Party.
You would be part of a GP team consisting of 7 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP (this role) and 2 GP Registrars.
We also have a multidisciplinary and loyal clinical and administration team, some of whom have been with us for 20+ years. We have Nurse led chronic disease management supported by 2 HCAs.
Main duties of the jobTo work as an autonomouspractitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practicepopulation, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complyingwith the contract.
Furthermore, the post holder willadhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to theeffective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining apositive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary practiceand PCN team.

Job responsibilitiesThe following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
- The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract
- Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
- Effective management of long-term conditions
- Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
- On a rotational basis, undertake duty doctor role
- Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
- Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
- Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
- Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
- Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
- Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
- Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
- Prepare and complete the revalidation process
- Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
- Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
- Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
- Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
- Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement
- Full GMC registration
- National Performers List registration (England)
- Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
- Evidence of current validation
- Evidence of last appraisal
- Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
- Qualified GP
- MRCGP
- Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
- General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
- Experience of working in a primary care environment
- Experience of continued professional development
- Experience of QOF and clinical audit
- General understanding of the primary care contract
- Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
- Experience of medicines management
- Experience of ICB initiatives
- Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Clear, polite telephone manner
- Effective time management (planning and organising)
