The Hoxton Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive clinical team.

Whether you are an experienced GP looking for a well-organised practice with a strong team around you, or a newly qualified GP looking for a supportive environment in which to develop, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About The Hoxton Surgery

The Hoxton Surgery is a well-established, high-performing NHS practice serving approximately 9,500 patients in a diverse and vibrant community.

We are a 3-partner PMS practice and an established training practice with a strong commitment to education, teamwork and high-quality patient care. We work closely with our multidisciplinary team and Shoreditch Park & City PCN to provide a broad range of services to our patients.

Our practice is located in bright, modern, purpose-built premises overlooking Shoreditch Park, with on site car and bicycle parking.

Our multidisciplinary team

You will be supported by an experienced and approachable team including:

  • GPs
  • Practice nurses
  • HCAs
  • Clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • Diabetes specialist nurses
  • DietitiansFirst Contact Physiotherapists
  • Social prescribers
  • Nurse Associates
  • Administrative and reception teams

We believe in using the wider multidisciplinary team effectively, so that GPs can focus on providing high-quality clinical care while patients receive support from the most appropriate professional.

The role

As a Salaried GP at Hoxton Surgery, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care across a mixture of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations.

Your clinical responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and managing acute and chronic presentations
  • Providing evidence-based clinical care
  • Prescribing safely and appropriately
  • Reviewing investigations and test resultsReviewing hospital correspondence and clinical letters
  • Making appropriate referrals
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical records
  • Undertaking home visits where required
  • Supporting care planning and health promotion
  • Contributing to the delivery of QOF, Enhanced Services and other practice priorities
Teaching, learning and professional development

We are an established teaching practice and welcome clinicians who enjoy sharing knowledge and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals.

There are opportunities to contribute to the teaching and supervision of:

  • Medical students
  • Foundation doctors
  • GP trainees

We also encourage our GPs to develop areas of clinical interest and contribute to clinical audit, quality improvement and service development.

For newly qualified GPs, we offer the opportunity to develop your confidence and clinical experience within a supportive team.

For experienced GPs, there is scope to contribute your expertise, develop leadership responsibilities and help shape the continued development of the practice.

Working as part of our team

We value teamwork, communication and mutual support.

Our GPs work closely with our nursing, pharmacy, allied health professional and administrative teams, with regular opportunities for clinical discussion and shared learning.

We hold weekly practice meetings and prescribing meetings, alongside monthly MDT meetings, providing opportunities to discuss clinical issues, improve services and support one another.

Quality and governance

You will be expected to:

  • Maintain high standards of clinical practice
  • Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement
  • Contribute to QOF and Enhanced Services
  • Maintain appropriate safeguarding knowledge and responsibilities
  • Follow practice policies relating to confidentiality, information governance and infection prevention and control
  • Participate in significant event reviews and learning where appropriate
  • Keep up to date with relevant clinical guidance and professional requirements

Essential

  • Current GMC registration
  • Appropriate UK professional registration
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to professional development and lifelong learning

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in general practice
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Interest in teaching, clinical education, audit or quality improvement
  • Experience in a particular clinical area that could contribute to the wider practice
