Job Description

We are currently supporting an organisation seeking an experienced Risk & Governance Manager to lead and develop its risk, compliance, governance, & complaints functions.

This is a key role responsible for ensuring effective governance frameworks are in place across the organisation, supporting regulatory compliance, driving continuous improvement, and promoting a positive risk-aware culture. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will help ensure risks are effectively managed, complaints are appropriately handled, and governance processes remain robust and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Risk Management

  • Lead and maintain the organisation's risk management framework.
  • Manage corporate and operational risk registers.
  • Support teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
  • Monitor emerging risks, incidents, trends, and areas of concern.
  • Ensure learning from incidents and reviews is embedded into practice.
  • Produce risk reports and assurance information for senior stakeholders.

Governance & Compliance

  • Support compliance with regulatory, contractual, and legal requirements.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and industry best practice.
  • Provide guidance on governance, risk, and compliance matters.
  • Maintain governance controls and assurance processes.
  • Support audits, reviews, and compliance assessments.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Complaints Management

  • Oversee the management of complaints and customer concerns.
  • Support investigations and ensure timely, high-quality responses.
  • Monitor complaint trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and analysis for senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure learning from complaints drives service improvements.

Policies & Assurance

  • Lead the development and review of policies, procedures, and governance documentation.
  • Maintain compliance records and assurance evidence.
  • Support audits, inspections, and organisational reviews.
  • Track actions arising from audits, complaints, and risk reviews through to completion.
  • Contribute to governance and business improvement projects.

Training & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide advice and support to managers and operational teams.
  • Support the delivery of governance, risk, and compliance training.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Promote a proactive approach to governance and risk management.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in a Risk, Governance, Compliance, Quality, or Assurance role.
  • Experience developing and managing risk frameworks and risk registers.
  • Experience handling complex complaints or investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of governance, compliance, risk, and assurance principles.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and drive positive change.
  • A collaborative, pragmatic, and solutions-focused approach.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting audits, inspections, or compliance reviews.
  • Relevant professional qualifications in governance, risk, compliance, or quality.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives.
