RHEL Engineer (OpenStack) freelance/contract

Linux Engineer (Madrid - Hybrid)

• Senior Systems Administrator with strong Linux expertise
• Focus on Red Hat, cloud platforms, and large-scale infrastructure migrations
• Hybrid role based in Madrid
• Long-term contract or permanent engagement depending on client needs
• Administer and optimise Linux-based systems (Red Hat focus)
• Support mixed environments including Linux and Windows
• Manage cloud platforms (Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud)
• Lead VMware-to-OpenStack migration projects
• Deliver end-to-end infrastructure migration initiatives
• Maintain virtualisation environments (VMware)
• Manage backup and recovery solutions (Veeam)
• Ensure system reliability, performance, and security
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
• 5-8 years' experience across the listed technologies
• Knowledge of networking and databases in Linux environments
• Strong Linux expertise (Red Hat preferred)
• Working knowledge of Windows Server
• Cloud experience with Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud
• Proven experience in VMware administration
• Strong background in Veeam backup technologies
• Demonstrable experience in VMware - OpenStack migrations
• Strong track record in infrastructure migration projects

Certifications (required/highly preferred)

• Red Hat Systems Administrator Certification (RHCSA/RHCE)
• Red Hat OpenStack Certification

Location & Language

• Must be based in Madrid
• English level C1 or a native English speaker with some Spanish
