At Waipā District Council, we're proud to serve one of New Zealand's fastest-growing districts. Our Revenue Team plays a vital role in supporting the services and infrastructure that help Waipā thrive, and we're looking for a detail-focused Revenue Assistant to join us.
This is a permanent part-time position based in Te Awamutu, working 16 hours per week across four days, reporting to the Revenue Team Leader. The preferred working pattern is Tuesday to Friday, with hours of either 8.30am-12.30pm or 9.00am-1.00pm. Some flexibility may be considered for the right candidate and there are opportunities for hybrid working to include some days working from home once up to speed and in agreement with the line manager.
About the RoleAs Revenue Assistant, you will provide important administrative support across key revenue functions, helping ensure our rating processes are accurate, timely, and customer-focused.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Administering Notices of Sale and Rates Settlement forms, including liaison with solicitors and updating the property and rating database
- Assisting with compiling, calculating and processing rates rebates, including administering applications via the Department of Internal Affairs website
- Preparing clear and professional correspondence advising applicants of rebate outcomes and how rebates have been applied or declined
- Assisting with receipting from the business bank account
- Providing general administration support to the Revenue Team, including customer correspondence and database updates
This is a role where accuracy matters. You'll be working with financial information, legislation-driven processes, and community members who rely on clear, timely communication.
About YouYou'll bring:
- Experience in administration, financial administration, accounts, or customer service
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Confidence working with systems and databases, and the ability to learn new processes quickly
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A well-organised, proactive approach to managing your workload
Experience within local government or rating systems would be an advantage, but is not essential.
