Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Fishmonger to join their retail team with an eye for detail and knowledge about seafood and areas in butchery as well. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high quality fish and seafood products, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. The store is located in a small town within 25 minutes drive from Cork City. An ideal candidate will be willing to stand long hours and isn't afraid to take on a challenge.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure fish and seafood fresh and well stocked.
• Check product quality to make sure customers received good seafood.
• Arrange fish and seafood neatly to attract customers and increase sales.
• Clean, cut, and prepare fish and seafood based on customer requests.
• Follow health and safety rules when handling and storing seafood.
• Help customers choose seafood and give basic cooking tips.
• Make sure all products have the correct prices and labels.
• Handle customer payments and provide good customer service.
• Check stock regularly and order or replace items when needed.

Key Requirements for the role

• Previous experience working as a fishmonger or butcher role with knowledge of seafood.
• Good knowledge of different types of fish and seafood, including how to prepare and cook them.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices when handling seafood.
• Ability to work on your feet for long periods and lift heavy products when required.
• High school education or an equivalent qualification is an advantage.
