Job Description
Checkout Department Manager - Cork City

At Blue Forge Recruitment we are looking for an experienced Checkout Manager to join a well established supermarket in North Cork. The role involves leading the checkout department, managing a team of cashiers, and ensuring excellent customer service in a dynamic, busy environment.

Location: Cork City Contract: Permanent Salary: €36,000 to €42,000 DOE.

Qualifications

  • Excellent people management and team leadership skills
  • Proven experience managing checkout/front end operations in a busy retail environment, convenience or supermarket environment
  • Customer focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, multitask, and perform under pressure
  • Flexible to work a variety of shifts, including mornings and evenings
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day to day running of the checkout department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of cashiers and front end staff to deliver excellent customer service
  • Manage staffing levels, rotas, and performance to ensure optimal efficiency during peak and off peak times
  • Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, ensuring a positive resolution
  • Ensure all cash handling procedures, policies, and controls are strictly followed
  • Monitor KPIs such as transaction times, queue management, and customer satisfaction
  • Work closely with store management to improve processes, increase customer retention, and drive store performance
