Title: Retail Area Manager (Nottingham and Derby)

Salary: £38,500 - £46,125 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full time (35 hours per week)

Reports to: Divisional Business Manager

Department: Trading

Location: Home based with travel required across the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire areas, plus a few sites in surrounding counties.

Overview

As a Retail Area Manager, you will champion Cancer Research UK's trading operations, acting as an ambassador for the charity while driving area sales, profitability and community impact. You will manage a geographically dispersed team, deliver strong financial performance, and support the broader cultural mission of the charity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a multi site retail team, ensuring high standards of customer service, store presentation and merchandising.
  • Achieve area performance targets, including income, expenditure, processing, sales price, sell through rates, fundraising and customer service metrics.
  • Analyse high street and charity retail trends, applying insights to improve area performance.
  • Manage local budgets, staffing, recruitment, development, retention and performance, while promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Ensure compliance with national guidelines on retail standards, stock management, store layouts and volunteer recruitment.
  • Represent Cancer Research UK at events, working collaboratively with national and divisional teams.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Proven leadership of a diverse, geographically spread retail team.
  • Multi site retail management experience, ideally in fashion, homeware or gifts.
  • Strong commercial awareness and business judgement, confident in meeting and motivating against targets.
  • Excellent communication, networking and collaborative skills.
  • Adaptability and the ability to work independently in changing environments.
