Job Description
For one of our clients based in the Canton of Geneva, we are offering a position as: Coal Purchase Manager For a fixed-term X a 100% Purchase Manager H/F DESCRIPTION OF THE MISSION Sourcing & Supplier Management Identify and engage coal suppliers in line with commercial criteria and assess supplier proposals based on quality, pricing, and overall value. Develop the supplier portfolio, including compliance checks, and ongoing performance evaluation, commercial discussions, and purchasing terms. Work closely with internal stakeholders such as production, planning, and finance to align purchasing activities with business logistics instructions for delivery scheduling. Monitor deliveries and ensure contractual commitments are met in terms of quality and timing. Support follow-up on shipping performance, quality inspections, claims, and supplier management. Planning Contribute to the definition and implementation of risk management and hedging strategies adapted to market conditions. Provide forecasts on prices, volumes, and funding requirements to support purchasing and delivery within budget constraints for procurement and payment flows. Contract & Reporting Oversight Prepare, review, and follow up on supply contracts and purchases, ensuring entry within procurement and financial systems. Produce regular activity reports in line with internal reporting requirements. Intelligence & Business Development Maintain active market awareness and identify potential new business opportunities. Represent the company at industry events and maintain a strong external network. Qualifications: 10 years of experience in commodities trading or procurement, preferably within the coal and/or coke sector, with a solid understanding of global pricing mechanisms, freight dynamics, logistics, quality control, and financing exposure to risk management and hedging. Ability to analyze global supply and demand trends and identify sourcing opportunities. Knowledge of procurement practices, contract management, and value-based product assessment, within a structured trading framework. Understanding of trade principles, contractual frameworks, maritime transport, and freight markets, including experience with letters of credit and payment methods. Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage supplier relationships across different markets and cultures. High level of integrity, attention to detail, and accountability, paired with a proactive and results-driven mindset. Effective and comfortable working in cross-functional and multicultural environments, with a willingness to travel. Proficiency in English; Russian and/or Ukrainian is considered an asset.
