Job Description
Research Fellow - University Cultural Collections & Generative AI

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

The University of Leeds's Brotherton Library is one of the major academic research libraries in the UK, attracting students and scholars from around the world to its extensive print, online, and manuscript collections gathered during its 100-year history.

Cultural Collections & Galleries is an integral part of the Library, responsible for the care, access, and development of the university's art, manuscript, archive, and rare book collections. Five of its premier collections have been awarded Designated status by the Arts Council, recognizing their outstanding international importance. The department also operates two public galleries, Treasures of the Brotherton and the Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, which host exhibitions drawing from active research, the collections, and the university's diverse audiences. The recently refurbished Brotherton Research Centre supports numerous teaching sessions and research activities annually.

We are seeking a Research Fellow in Cultural Collections and AI to design and deliver a project that enhances our understanding of the implications of Generative AI on our Cultural Collections. This is an exciting opportunity to conduct research on our collections and develop your research portfolio within a supportive, well-established environment. Applicants from any discipline within the arts and humanities are encouraged to apply. You will be supported by the Digital Creativity and Cultures Hub (DCCH), located in the Brotherton Library near Cultural Collections. This is a fixed-term role until July 2025.
