Research Data Governance Officer

Full time, 23 month fixed term contract / internal move / temporary promotion. Location: 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London, E14 4PU.

Overview

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) enhances the health of millions of people through effective regulation of medicines and medical devices. Within the Safety and Surveillance Group, the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) provides anonymised NHS data for research, supporting high quality observational studies and real world evidence.

Role Summary

The Research Data Governance Officer supports the management of CPRD's compliance with legal, regulatory, ethics and policy requirements, focusing on information governance. The role reports to the Head of Information Governance and provides governance support across all CPRD teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support delivery of a robust information governance framework
  • Support information risk management
  • Support legal, ethical and regulatory approvals for use of patient data for research
  • Promote best practice and provide up to date information
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience of data or information governance, risk and compliance (GRC), ideally within NHS, health research, or health research services organisations
  • A degree or relevant qualification/experience in life sciences, healthcare, law, ethics, information management, or information governance
  • Ability to develop, implement, maintain and review systems and services to ensure delivery of professional excellence
  • Ability to remain alert to emerging issues and trends that may impact the work area
  • Knowledge of the benefits and sensitivities of using patient records in research
Person Specification

Behavioural, experience and technical criteria are evaluated through application, interview and testing. The candidate must demonstrate strong organisational and administrative skills, high computer literacy, and good verbal and written communication skills.
