About the role

The Adaptive Emergent Systems Engineering (AESE) group, part of the EPSRC National Edge Artificial Intelligence Hub, focuses on fundamental research to protect AI data and learning in Edge Computing environments. The group leads in Edge-AI research and previously received the 2020 President's Medal for Outstanding Research.

Responsibilities

Conduct research into lightweight AI schemes for Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC). Build and demonstrate proof of concept systems, applying deep learning and modern AI methods to RF sensing and related waveforms.

Qualifications

PhD (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with demonstrated expertise in AI for ISAC and RF sensing. Strong background in deep learning (Transformers, RNN/LSTM, CNN, Residual Networks), loss functions, and optimisation. Experience with waveforms, radio frequency, and communications systems is essential. Evidence of lightweight AI schemes is an advantage.

Benefits

Competitive salary (£49,017 - £57,472 per annum), 38 days off per year, 10 training and development days, and an early career development support package. For PhD candidates not yet awarded, appointment offered at Research Assistant level with salary £43,863 - £47,223 per annum.
