Real Estate Finance is a specialist team responsible for relationships with Commercial Real Estate investors and developers. Our strategy of 'by Professionals, to Professionals' ensures our customer portfolios consist of professional operators and market leaders.

Real Estate is a vital sector for the UK economy and a significant contributor to UK Commercial Banking. Housing is a key growth area aligned with the bank's net zero execution plan (NZEP). Real Estate Finance combines relationship management, large corporate lending, risk management, and partner engagement, within a complex, cyclical industry.

The REF business offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate to play a key role in a core sector for HSBC and the markets it serves.

We are seeking an experienced individual for the role of Relationship Director.

This role involves managing a portfolio of customers, with responsibilities for sales, service, risk, and operational delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maximising profitability by identifying customer needs and recommending suitable solutions, ensuring holistic relationship management and business development.

  • Supporting customers by prioritising their needs and maintaining high standards.
  • Seeking new business opportunities and nurturing existing relationships.
  • Building a network of professional and business introducers.
  • Adhering to credit, operational, reputation, financial crime, and regulatory risk management processes.
  • Understanding clients' businesses and industries to provide insights and promote fair outcomes.

To succeed, candidates should have:

  • First-class relationship management skills with a proven track record in a corporate client environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Real Estate sector, including the Housing Sector, and familiarity with banking products, structured transactions, syndicated loans, bonds, and capital markets.
  • Ability to manage deal flow, credit quality, and income generation effectively.
  • Understanding of risk management processes and the UK economic and industry environment.
  • Skills to balance risk and reward, manage business processes, and handle reputational and people risks.
  • Stability, maturity, authority, and excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.

This hybrid role is based in Manchester or Birmingham, requiring 3 days in the office or visiting clients, with travel as needed.

Benefits include private healthcare, enhanced maternity and adoption pay, and a contributory pension scheme.
